Thursdays mail brought Vermont Bean's order.
This has to be the garden bargain of my lifetime. Eleven packets of seed for 99 cents. These are all old fashioned, open pollinated types. I'm devoting one of my 4x8 raised beds for these. I'm curious how much I can grow for a dollar. Later, I'll be distributing the produce from this bed to some neighbors that are going through some tough times. Good eats for them and a neat experiment for me.
Included in this bargain-Beans (2 packets), Broccoli, Carrots, Cucumbers,Lettuce, Green Pepper, Radish, Cherry and Regular Tomatoes and because this is me and I always have to "pretty" things up--some Calendula seeds.
Even if I had paid the original price of 59 cents a packet it would have been a good deal. but 9 cents? Wow!
This should prove to be fun. I'll keep the harvest results separate from my regular garden.
